What is organic beauty? Well, you only need to look to Haoma to find out. All of their products are certified organic, which means they contain no emulsifiers, preservatives, or ‘plant-derived’ ingredients (which, despite their name, do far more damage than good!). Not only that, but they are vegan, don’t test on animals, and don't use ingredients that involve animals in any part of their process. Oh, and they fight against plastics.
Honestly, what more could you want?
The beauty industry is massive right now, which makes choosing organic, vegan products over artificial, unsustainable ones all the more important. Not only will they be kinder to your skin, but they are also causing no harm to the environment or animals.
Enis, the incredible founder and man behind Haoma kindly gifted me some products to test. I’ve been trying them for the past two weeks and here are my thoughts:
Energy Organic Mood Roll
I absolutely adore essential oils in terms of making things smell nice, but in all honesty I've never done enough research to understand which ones to use for what needs, and how best to use them to achieve their full potential.
That's why, when I saw that Haoma did a whole collection of essential oil mood rolls, I had to try one! They have five types to choose from; Energy, Tranquillity, Purity, Focus, and Clarity. I was immediately drawn to Energy, as that's probably what I've been struggling with most, especially as I've just started my first full-time job! I had high hopes for this product, and I must say, I wasn't disappointed.
The essential oils used in each roll are protected by a naturally violet-coloured Miron glass that has been used to protect its contents from as far back as Ancient Egypt. (To find out more about this amazing material click here). Upon opening, the intoxicating smell of the essential oils is not hard to miss. A blend of rosemary, lavender, and safflower to name just a few makes for a gorgeous combination! To use, you simply roll the oils onto your wrists and temples and inhale.
I've been using this at work and, I must say, I was surprised at how well it takes effect! Within a few minutes of inhaling, I feel much livelier, and my tiredness seems to dissipate. Plus, its small but sturdy size means it's perfect for popping into your bag, pocket, or purse!
Handmade Lavender Soap
For a while now I've been meaning to switch to plastic-free soap bars, but I hadn't found one that I was really drawn to. That meant I was super excited to receive this gorgeous lavender soap from Haoma! Not only does it look beautiful, but the gentle aroma made entirely from natural essential oils means it smells beautiful too!
All of their soaps are handmade using traditional methods and a special blend of six unique plant oils and butters. They don't contain any parabens, GMO, emulsifiers, or synthetic fragrances, so they're completely safe to use on any part of your body even if you have sensitive skin!
I've been loving using this in the shower and bath, although I almost didn't want to use it and ruin the beautifully stamped design! It smells wonderful under hot water and leaves my skin feeling super moisturised.
One thing I also love about the soaps Haoma produce is that any soap bars that have been wrongly stamped or cut wonky are still sold as 'Imperfect Soaps'. They are offered at half the price, and reduce so much unnecessary waste!
Organic Hair Revitaliser
Last but not least, is the Organic Hair Revitaliser. This product was probably the one I was most unsure but excited about, as my hair and scalp are very difficult! I have thick curly/wavy hair depending on what it decides to do on the day, and I've struggled with Psoriasis for as long as I can remember. That means I have to be super careful about what I put on my head, as my scalp is ridiculously sensitive.
However, this was another product I was pleasantly surprised by! I've used it twice now, and it's done wonders to both my hair and scalp. It's made from a certified organic blend of essential oils such as Palmarosa, Thyme, and Cedarwood, and raw Coconut Oil, which means it not only smells good, but is super moisturising too!
To use, you apply as much as you want to dry hair and your scalp, massage it into your roots and hair, and leave for a minimum of 30 minutes (but the longer you leave it in the better the results will be!). Then, you just wash it off with shampoo and warm water! I apply it in the morning when I know I'll be home all day, and wash it off in the evening, so that I can let my hair dry naturally overnight. You can see a video of me applying it below!
After just the first use, I had noticeable results. My hair felt so much softer and had a gorgeous shine to it, even with it's natural texture which is almost unheard of! It smelt great, and my scalp was definitely less scaly (sorry, that's the only way I can describe it!) which was what I was most impressed by! I never thought I'd be able to find an organic alternative to the chemical-filled shampoos prescribed for scalp Psoriasis, but from what I can tell so far, this moisturising revitaliser is doing just the trick!
Overall, I'm super impressed with Haoma, and their products. They all smell truly divine, and I can rest easy knowing that not only am I choosing kindness for my skin, but for the environment as well! Not to mention, organic beauty has never smelt so sweet!
So, if you're in the market for some new beauty products, why not make the conscious switch to certified organic and give Haoma a go?
